Event Name: Above and Beyond w/ opening set by Koroma

Event Description:

Come join us as Koroma spins a special Birthday Set to welcome one of the world's Top 10 DJ Acts in Above and Beyond!!!

Above & Beyond rank among dance music's most exciting talents. Their genre-defining productions - often released on their own Anjunabeats label - have become an essential tool for the world's leading DJ's and have set the benchmark for the new generation of dance music producers. In 2004 Above & Beyond scooped Radio 1’s Essential Mix of the Year - prompting Pete Tong to describe them as the ‘UK’s new dance superstars'. Since then, Above & Beyond have enjoyed a meteoric rise to the top of the global dance music scene, culminating in six nominations at this year's International Dance Music Awards in Miami.

Above & Beyond's weekly Trance Around The World radio show has built a fanatical global following on the internet. The show stands at the forefront of trance and has been responsible for breaking many of the scene's biggest records.

Above & Beyond have also recorded under a number of different aliases including Aalto, Free State, Nitromethane, Oceanlab, P.O.S and Tranquility Base.

In 2006 Above & Beyond released their debut artist album, ‘Tri-State’, to critical acclaim. DJ Magazine described the album as 'Brilliant. 5/5' while The Sun - the UK's biggest selling daily newspaper - called it 'the most original trance album for years'.

Don't miss the guys next installment which is .......
Above & Beyond - Anjunabeats Volume Five (2XCD) Release date.. 21st May. (Order your signed pre-sale today! visit the website... www.anjunabeats.com)

"The saviours of trance' DJ Mag

"Their finest compilation yet...Compilation of the month ****" Mixmag

One of the most exciting releases of 2007 sees Above & Beyond return to the decks for 'Anjunabeats Volume Five'.

Thanks to the sheer quality of their craft, winning Radio 1’s Essential Mix of The Year award, and last year’s debut artist album, ‘Tri-State’. Above & Beyond have added legions to their already dedicated fanbase. Now battling away with the PvDs, Tiestos, and Sashas of this world, they’re set to become the true dance stars of the next few years.

‘Anjunabeats Volume 5’ is the next instalment in a series that’s earned its spurs as a ‘must-have’ for any electronic music collection. A standout array of tracks from start to finish, it’s a 2XCD compilation packed full of unreleased exclusives and future anthems, including two brand new tracks from Above & Beyond themselves, under their Tranquility Base guise. Other tracks and remixes include: Maor Levi ‘Shapes’, Purple Mood ‘One Night In Tokyo’, Super8 & Tab ‘Suru’, Mark Pledger vs Super8 & Tab 'Worldwide', Tranquility Base ‘Razorfish’ (Bart Claessen Remix), Above & Beyond ‘Home’ (Above & Beyond Club Mix), and many more.

Yeah.....We were poor at CSUH. Couldn't afford the big bucks it cost for a slice of the airwaves so we had to resort to Internet radio. I think I had like two loyal listeners. Don't know if they still have it or not. KSUH baby! haha

itunes makes it a lot easier.

This Saturday........1015 Folsom brotha! Every Saturday at 1015 brotha! haha

Here are the most interesting of the prospects I've found:

1) Phantasmagoria (http://geomagnetic.tv/events/Phantasmagoria8.html) 8 @ The Dancehouse (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Dancehouse+1275+Connecticut+Street,+san+francisco+ca&sll=37.754023,-122.393446&sspn=0.024532,0.05579&ie=UTF8&z=16)
$25 at the door, 10-dawn

2) Halloween Massive (http://culturemob.com/events/5632585-halloween-massive-ca-san-francisco-visitacion-valley-94014-cow-palace) @ The Cow Palace (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Cow+Palace+2600+Geneva+Ave,+Daly+City+%28415%29+404-4111&sll=37.649578,-122.384262&sspn=0.196532,0.44632&ie=UTF8&ll=37.709254,-122.418208&spn=0.023732,0.05579&z=15&iwloc=A)
$25 prepaid (http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/1C004132D48666F2?artistid=1258832&majorcatid=10005&minorcatid=0), 8-dawn (door tickets?)

3) Go Nuts 2 @ The CellSpace (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=l&hl=en&q=CellSpace&sll=37.750197,-122.396004&sspn=0.012267,0.027895&ie=UTF8&cd=1&near=2050+Bryant+St,+San+Francisco,+San+Francisco,+California+94110&geocode=FUowQAIdgyu0-A&ll=37.761097,-122.410119&spn=0.012265,0.027895&z=16&iwloc=near)
The listings have been removed, which has sparked my interest!

Cow Palace can hold a hell of a lot more people than Dancehouse (aka Gingerbread House), which could be fun, but I like to stay mobile on Friday nights, which makes at-the-door tickets appealing. :)

Anyone hitting any of these or have other prospects? Incidentally, anyone ride? I'd love to gang into the city with anyone that can keep up :grinning:

Friday's almost here! :dance::super:

Good times! Dancehouse was a much smaller venue than I expected, but was pretty much full (no more than 150 people I'd say). My thoughts on the evening for those interested:

The main dance floor always had a a good DJ mixin' it up - mostly progressive trance (w00t!). :good2:
The crowd, although small, was very energetic... and well costumed. :good:
The decor was sweet - with neon-spray-painted tapestries throughout the rooms that lit up with the black lights. Very cool effect! Most of the tapestries were Indian themed (think Hindu Gods and Kama Sutra panels), but there were some neat traditional fantasy paintings as well (fairies and the like). All in all a nice ambience. :good:
The upper floor was less crowded, which I attribute to that DJ's prowess with the tables. While I was up there (albeit briefly), he was hunched over his instrument panels struggling to mix via cellphone light. :bad:
The ventilation was non-existent. Two standing fans were set up on the main floor... but with no ducting these fans merely blew hot air around the room. :bad:

Seeing as how I hadn't been to a rave since Lovefest and the main afterparty (8+ hours of dancing to the best DJs with thousands of people), I was rather surprised how well this little place held up!

Post up if you were there! Oh, and here's a tapestry of Shiva, illuminated by black light (sorry, cellphone pic):

Yeah, me neither. No clubbing plans this weekend (yet), any ideas? Planning on SUB.MERGE (http://sanfrancisco.going.com/event-579790;SUBMERGE_ft_GHETTO_HOUSE_RADIO) the weekend after though. I'm not the biggest house fan (more into progressive trance), but it should still be fun. I like 1015.

Yeah, but you can always come up north, the City isn't but 45 minutes from you.

Tonight I'm hitting 1015 again with a few friends; they're featuring a few trance artists I haven't heard of, but I haven't been disappointed by that venue yet! The main room is rockin' a guy named [Jonathan Allyn (http://1015.com/events/1015/allyn)].

Of course, next week is Love Week, meaning there will be trance parties pretty much every night all throughout the city. After Party tickets are a little pricy, but the Lovevolution parade grounds are something I look forward to all year. It's finally here! Here's the info on [Lovevolution '09 (http://www.sflovevolution.org/)].

Probably gonna ride into the city Saturday late afternoon and catch a few hours of the massive in front of city hall, then hit the after party and ride home whenever. BART won't be running late that night (why couldn't they have done construction on the bridge later!), but there is the late-night bus I've heard some success stories about.

Message me if you're around! Always good to meet ah.fm fans.
