...windy of dry conditions are expected to enhance the potential for
wildfire spread over the next several days...
elevated to critical fire weather conditions are expected to
threaten parts south central texas...each day from saturday through
next friday. a fast moving weather pattern aloft will produce either
strong northwest winds from dry cold fronts or dry southerly
breezes in between weather disturbances.
the most critical weather pattern is expected sunday from a dry
cold front. a fire weather watch has been issued for most of
south central texas sunday...indicating weather conditions that
could promote extreme wildfire behavior. winds could remain strong
on saturday to create near critical fire weather conditions over
areas generally along and east of i-35.
another dry front will produce near critical fire weather
conditions thursday. the remainder of the days through next friday
will have breezy and dry southerly winds...mainly across the
southern edwards plateau and the rio grande plains.
residents should take precautions to ensure that outdoor
activities do not lead to wildfires. be prepared for poor air
quality if a wildfire occurs in your area. avoid outdoor burning
of any kind...and do not toss lit cigarette butts on the ground.
