Hello Tarek
I appreciate what your talking about even though I come from europe. I can understand. Fortunately on the internet you can find many places to go where we can meet people of simla mind such as here. So, though you may not find many people of like mind in public you can come here and find many American and Canadian people of all ages who are deeply into trance. Plus we have here djs from your continent and America playing here so proving there are many people of your continent who are into trance and also understand the basic difference between trance and techno.
Thing is at one time even in europe trance and techno were considered to be virtually as one thing which is music made from electronic technology. Fortunately here in europe we have moved away from the old techno encompasing everything and into each genre having its own spin off name.
The fact that it hasn't happend in your country maybe due to your country being so vast it encompases so many different forms of music. Many people have not defined trance as a genre of its own because its not played regularly on commercial radio. And sometimes people young and old just find trance almost purely by chance as I did some twelve or thirteen years ago. Just heard a certain kind of sound one day and fell in love with it. I didn't even know it was called trance back then. And I certainly didn't know anybody else who knew anything about it. Just had to search it out for myself.
Where I live in England trance is quite well known now and popular though it is little played on commercial radio during the day, they play pop mostly. Though there are djs who have shows of their own on commercial radio mostly at the weekend and at night here such as Judge Jules, Pete Tong and Dave Pearce. Its really more about dance music as a whole than just trance music.
And really dance music includes lots of different genres. In America and maybe Canada too the roots of music are a little different to europe. Things like country music, rock and hip hop are predominantly an American concept and those continents tend to be more rooted in that kind of music compared to europe where say country music to use as an example is virtually none existant in popular music culture, certainly amongst the young.
The thing is trance is accessable to everybody if they want to find it. You can find it on thousands of stations on the internet and meet people of like mind on forums like this from all over the world. Basically the internet is the place to be if you want to find people of like mind. The outside public is to wide a spectrum if you know what I mean. To many different genres of music to choose from. Outside of the net its more of a game of chance that you might find people who are into trance.
There is also the thing about age. Forinstance I am fifty five years old. I'm not going to find many people of my age here in england in public who are into trance. They would look at me like i'm crazy. They think its a young persons thing. On here though its different, we all become as one were young and old merge in the name of trance. Age doesn't matter here. Here I'm proud to say I have close friends of all ages and all have a common deep love of trance or they would not be here.
Even though I come from europe five of my six closest friends are from either America or Canada and they all have one thing in common, this deep love of trance. But I would only have met them in a specialist place like this. Had I lived in say America or Canada or anywhere else for that matter the chances of meeting a like mind person would be slim certainly for somebody of my age because the choice of music is so very wide out there. This is how I see it, anyway
