Silk Sofa's 30th release comes from the imprint's talented label manager, Danish artist Gorm Sørensen. In addition to his personal work for Sofa, including his celebrated "Harmonic Aspects", he has released numerous remixes on labels such as Particles, Harmonic Breeze, and Mistique. This EP, "When Colours Emerge", features two of his newest chillout songs. The title track, "When Colours Emerge", starts out with a tiny piano melody and soothing pads underneath. As the track progresses, a large array of melodies is established, and the piano melody is layered up as well. Soon, a soft beat with tabla elements appears, and the background pads are enhanced even more.
The B-side, "Living In Glades", begins with mellow pad lines, with mesmerizing strings to follow shortly thereafter. New melodies emerge as percussive elements are introduced, and around the 4-minute mark, the main theme further adds to the atmosphere. The synths are varied throughout the track, and finally, a beautiful combination of pads and strings brings the song to a close.
