Samples & Purchase:

Russian talents Technical Lovers have appeared on Silk Textures on various occasions since the label's inception, including their recent "Violette" EP. Their tracks are known to paint vivid soundscapes, while evocative grooves maintain the energy on the dancefloor. Their latest, "A Call From The Future," represents a superlative example of their signature style, as the "futuristic" atmosphere is effectively created from the very first downbeat of the tune. As pads and various effects set the outer-worldly mood early, a light percussion groove begins to develop. A sexy bassline also emerges, as the beat get chunkier and various other evocative effects are added, including an erotic "breath" sample. In the latter half of the tune a delayed, "ringing" synth seems to imply, quite literally, that a future civilization has managed to make contact.

The B-side of the EP, "Sky Plane Girl", maintains an upbeat energy and swing. A slightly more stripped-down affair, the track is nonetheless vintage Technical Lovers: provocative, moody, sophisticated, and all-together elegant deep house.
