Silk Textures proudly welcomes acclaimed Dutch house artist Nick Hogendoorn for its 35th release. With countless classics to his name, including numerous collaborations with long-standing collaborative partner Eelke Kleijn, Nick is a an especially exciting addition to our label roster. His latest masterpiece, "Science", is presented here, along with new remixes by three fellow veteran stars: Shingo Nakamura, Espen, and Adam Byrd.

Nick's "Original Mix" beings with a subterranean soundscape, as cavernous pads and bass evoke the vision of an after-hours 'science' experiment, deep in the Hogendoorn laboratory. A variety of cave-like rhythmic effects enhance the soundscape, as the bass and pads slowly crescendo. In the main break, the "mad" scientist speaks: it's a haunting and deeply emotive monologue, which creates a memorable centerpiece for the track.

The tireless Shingo Nakamura offers the first of three new interpretations; his mix was also included in his own "Only Silk 01" compilation, which appeared recently on parent label Silk Digital. Shingo's remix includes the cinematic vox sample in the main break, as well as a crescendoing and hypnotic lead arpeggio, which explodes into the drop. With its strong rhythmic drive and climactic break, this version is sure to resonate the most with progressive fans.

Next up is Norwegian veteran talent Espen, who offers a truly visionary, re-imagined take. The tempo is quite energetic, though, the overall vibe of the tune is atmospheric and soothing. As his lead element, Espen has chosen a filtered and very "hooky" progression, which sounds a bit like a dubby guitar riff. In the main break, the filter envelope of this lead theme opens up, giving it more of a funky, 80's character. Meanwhile, subtle rhythmic and sampled vox effects from the original punctuate the outer-wordly soundscape.

Finally, trusty Hungarian label fixture Adam Byrd offers a quintessential deep house take, with a sensual -- dare we say, erotic -- vibe. The resonant groove is worthy of a deep house set opener, though, this version is just as suitable for the after-hours, as a cool-down or listening track. Again, the cinematic monologue of the original appears throughout the tune, while a variety of jazzy sounds create a lush mid-range. In the break, various pads and wooshes filter in and out, while synth stabs maintain the intriguing and provocative atmosphere.
