Silk Sofa is honoured to present a new album by acclaimed Dutch artist Stephen J. Kroos. His first artist album on Anjunabeats from 2007, "Tecktonick", received tremendous support, and subsequently he has appeared on Silk Textures and Mango Alley with numerous EPs. His new artist album, entitled "Experiments In A Horizontal Take-off", is a unique and mesmerizing journey through the wonders of downtempo and experimental music.

The intro track "Frons" begins with soothing rhodes stabs, while intriguing sound effects lurk in the background. While slowly building up the theme melody with additional synths, this cut acts as a perfect introduction to the album. "Een Korte Wandeling Door Het Bos In Mijn Hoofd" quickly establishes a unique, hypnotizing atmosphere with brilliant background effects and textures. "Hurt" includes fascinating percussion elements that -- along with the lush pad layers and the stunning soundscape -- form an outstanding atmosphere. The fourth song is "Corpus", which introduces a mesmerizing soundscape with intriguing sound effects and melodic layers, supported by a continuously captivating beat. "Acceptatie" is a blissful interlude, consisting of an extremely calm soundscape and soothing melodies. "Heimwee" begins with a stunning background atmosphere and outstanding percussion elements, supported by ingenious sound effects. The evolving synth layers combined with the sound effects form a truly captivating listening experience. An exciting rhythm is introduced in "Inhibitory Receptor", accompanied with an array of well-crafted synths and background rhodes melodies. "Malignancy" is a dark, intriguing song with hypnotizing percussion elements and pad structures, and it acts as a perfect mid-album interlude. "IO" begins with lush pad textures and tranquil synth additions. Later, a stimulating beat enters the mix, accompanied by an intriguing bassline structure. "The Passion" quickly establishes an exceptional percussion line combined with assorted sound effects and lush, hypnotizing melodies. "Experiment In A Horizontal Take-off" introduces mesmerizing sound effects and pad layers. Additional synths emerge later, ultimately resulting in a truly enthralling soundscape. The penultimate track, "Respiratory Distress", starts off with outstanding synths and sweeping pad layers on top. A blissful string line emerges later, which goes extremely well with the supporting percussion elements, arpeggios, and intermittent vocal stems. The final song, "Truste", establishes a beautiful, tranquil atmosphere with gorgeous bell-esque melodies. Also including captivating string lines, this cut acts as the perfect outro to another tremendous album by Stephen J. Kroos.
