_MC&HAMMER (Cityfox) - Extended DJ Set

MC&Hammer (Michael Christopher and Alex Hamadey) met mistakenly in the spring of 2010 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

At the time, Michael was studying and working as a DJ/Promoter in Miami at the dance-club, The Electric Pickle. Alex was running Smith Street Studios in Brooklyn and just finishing recording Lindbergh Palace's first LP afnd beginning recording work with a young Azaelia Banks.

Upon learning that a assistant position was available at Smith Street Studios, a place that features a completely analog environment, Michael quickly moved operations to Brooklyn full-time.

It was during long nights of recording and mixing that MC&Hammer was born. Jonathan Benedict, founder of Smith Street Studios, was responsible for putting their respective nicknames together to create the "MC&Hammer" concept. Michael's initial's fused together with "Hammer", as Alex was known as around studio, was to be the impetus behind the beginning of a long run of collaboration and creation between Alex and Michael.

MC&Hammer now work out of a private Bushwick, Brooklyn based studio, called 'FuckYouYankeeBlueJeans'. By featuring modular racks, analogue drum machines and synthesizers/instruments; MC&Hammer look to carve out a place for themselves in the world by combining unconventional recording practices with rare gear; taking basic techno melodies and using percussion from nostalgic drum machines to create an original and composed sound of their own.
