“Kon is the best Disco/Funk/Soul/Boogie DJ in the world, yeah I said it.” -SoulClap

Kon means “King of Nothing,” and seeks to place the love of music above his own work. The last of an increasingly rare breed of dedicated crate diggers, Kon has for years brought his deep knowledge of obscure goodies to clubs and festivals worldwide. Kon is one half of Kon and Amir, who released the acclaimed “On Track” and “Off Track” rare grooves series on BBE Records. His remixes of dance classics prompted Gilles Peterson to name him “Edit/rework King of 2011” and feature him prominently on his BBC Radio shows. This year saw the release of Kon's remix via On The Prowl's Party Mix Vol. 7 this past March. On May 27th, Kon's "All About Youx" EP dropped on the new Soul Clap Record label. The EP was selected as Mixmag's EP of the month. July marks the release of his first solo LP on venerated BBE Records.

“Those BBE records were just phenomenal. I think (he was) very much ahead of the curve when it comes to just digging that much deeper and ever since all those came out, there’s been a whole heap of new generation compilations - very next level stuff. Where the hell can you get all that music from?! Proper diggers!” -Gilles Peterson

Quotes:

“DJ Kon is the best Disco/Funk/Soul/Boogie DJ in the world, yeah I said it. Yes of course, I know. You’re probably saying ‘but but but, what about DJ BLAH BLAH’! Well, Kon will not only mix circles around whoever you’re thinking about but then at the end of the night he’ll go home and sleep in Dorchester. Being from Boston is 10 extra points.” (http://blog.soulclap.us/tag/dj-kon/)
-Soul Soul Clap

“I love Kon and Amir’s comps for so many reasons. First off, for pure listening pleasure, you can throw one on for an hour and know you’re going to hear a bunch of amazing long-lost soul treasures, as they have impeccable taste. And secondly, as an ex-pseudo beat-digger, I have a giant amount of wonderment and awe for the fact that these guys keep digging up these shattering breaks-n-beats, just when you think every magic 2-bar loop has been discovered, they drop something that makes me go, “what the f**k is that!” Oh, and Amir is a nice guy too.”
-Mark Ronson

“KON and AMIR are many of my peers dream selectors. They have ALWAYS kept the art form of true diggin’ as well as unearthing stellar, yet forgotten gems from ALL genres alive! From they’re important work on BBE, to their vast knowledge of the music, they keep the standard & bar raised HIGH for all WAX diggers, collectors, & selectors to strive for in the game. Much luv & respect to the internationally known KON and AMIR!!”

Deep Space, is an adventure into future dub, spacey vibes, and abstract grooves featuring resident DJ François K. live on the mixing board with special guests.

Since the party’s launch in 2003, Deep Space has featured a who’s who of well known and then emerging artists from around the world representing a stunning array of musical styles that Deep Space is known for integrating into its open minded aesthetic. While the mission of Deep Space remains committed to sharing a love of dub, a vast, under-appreciated musical direction, the party has invited a great range of guest artists to share their creative dub mixing approaches to all things spacey, psychedelic and mind-bending.

From dubstep pioneers such as Mala, Goth-Trad, and Digital Mystikz, to house, techno & disco icons such as Giorgio Moroder, Dimitri from Paris, Theo Parrish, Rhythm & Sound, Ron Trent, Carl Craig, Joe Claussell, Derrick May, to cutting edge producers and tastemakers such as Gilles Peterson, Mary Anne Hobbs, Mr. Scruff, DJ Spooky and dub legends such as Adrian Sherwood with Pinch, Mad Professor, Mutabaruka and U-Roy, and Brazilian icons Otto with Carlinhos Brown and plenty of live musical and dance performers, Deep Space continues to be a magnet for attracting many of electronic dance music’s most innovative artists. Almost all of the guest artists who play at Deep Space create truly one-of-kind, crate-digging "Deep Space sets."

Deep Space has been presented abroad at the Big Chill Festival (UK), Plastic People (UK), TDK Cross Central Festival (UK), Space Lab Yellow (Japan), Café Jamaica (Japan), Precious Hall (Japan), Phase (Japan), throughout France, in Berlin, Denmark, SONAR Festival in Barcelona and across the U.S. In 2010 Deep Space received a dedicated night at Burning Man’s Disorient camp. In 2004 Deep Space was nominated for “Best Club Night” by the internationally televised “DanceStar USA” awards. In 2005 & 2006 François K. won “Best Resident DJ Award” at the Club World Awards held in Miami. Deep Space was named “Best Party 2004” in Time Out New York. In 2013 Do Androids Dance lauded Deep Space as one of “The 10 Best Club Nights in the US.” Francois K. was named "Best Resident DJ" by the 2015 Nightclub Awards. In 2005 Deep Space NYC Vol. 1, a compilation mixed by François K., was released on Wave Music’s imprint Deep Space Media to critical acclaim.
