Decibel Pilot – The Flight Deck
Hailing from Calgary, Canada, Decibel Pilot aka. Dan Nash, has been a fixture in the Canadian trance scene for over 20 years.
His passion for music began at an early age, listening to his dad’s records and eventually falling in love with 90s dance music. As a teenager he was always the one in control of the music selection when hanging out with his friends. His DJ career really took off in 2000 when he began doing large scale high school dance parties playing Top 40 music. It was during this time that he discovered his true passion in trance music.
In 2002 he got his first set of Technics 1200s and never turned back. Under the alias DJ Eclipse, he quickly established himself as one of the top DJs in Calgary. He held a residency at Sambuca Lounge and played regularly at other venues and festivals in Western Canada including opening for Armin Van Buuren.
In 2006 he decided to put his music career on hold and learned how to fly. This was his lifelong dream. After spending time as a flight instructor Dan was able to become a full-time airline pilot. Today he flies Boeing 737s for WestJet Airlines.
As life stabilized, he realized it was time to get back into music and also learn how to produce his own tracks. He rebranded to his current alias Decibel Pilot to do just that. He quickly established himself again, playing regularly in venues across Western Canada while supporting acts such as Giuseppe Ottaviani, Craig Connelly, and Solarstone. He has original music released on Pure Trance Neon, Magic Island Elevate, Alter Ego Records, and AVA White with much more to come. You can also catch him live on air as a resident on TrueNorthRadio.ca as well as Afterhours.fm.
When he’s not busy flying or writing music you can find Dan hanging out with his wife Jessica, their beautiful daughter and many pets. He is an avid football fan, Formula 1 addict, and loves to cook.
Whether it’s in the sky or behind the decks you won’t see him slowing down anytime soon.
