Transcending – Time to Transcend
Transcending is James Brennan — a veteran of the dancefloor whose journey began in the hardcore rave scene of the 1990s under the DJ Decibel alias. It was there that his passion for high-energy electronic music and the art of mixing was forged on the frontlines of a scene that pulled no punches. As the decade turned, so did the sound, and James found his true home in trance in the early 2000s — a genre that perfectly matched his instinct for euphoria with the relentless forward momentum he had always chased.
That foundation — built over more than two decades immersed in electronic music — informs everything Transcending does. This isn’t a project built overnight; it’s the culmination of a lifetime spent in clubs, behind the decks, and deep within the music itself. It’s an understanding not just of how a track sounds, but how it feels on a dancefloor — and why that difference matters.
Since 2024, Transcending has stepped into the studio with the same conviction, rapidly establishing himself as a production name to watch. With tracks already signed to Ascent Recordings, Ablazing, Redux, AROS, and Exist in Sound, the label community has taken notice — and the catalogue is only continuing to grow.
The sound is unmistakable: soaring, uplifting melodies that raise the roof, fused with harder-edged energy drawn from techno, rave, and the wider spectrum of harder EDM. Transcending doesn’t ask listeners to choose between beauty and power, or between euphoria and intensity — it delivers all of it simultaneously, exactly as it should be.
